This psalm has a dual emphasis describing the blessings of one who walks in the ways of the Lord, first in their work and home (1-4) and second in national and family prosperity (4-6).
The reference in verse 3 to the wife being like a fruitful vine and children like olive shoots not only speaks of vitality and fertility but is also a reminder of the good wife in Proverbs 31 with such support gladdening the writer’s heart providing the foundation of personal godliness in the Lord’s blessing (Ps 128:1 and 4).
The sphere of this blessing is particularly related to Zion where the Lord is enthroned and the welfare of the family and the prosperity of Jerusalem are inseparable.
